Frequently Asked Questions
Maintenance/Site Update Questions
How do we get started? There are basically three easy steps: Choose a design template, choose a web site plan, and complete the online Agreement. When we receive the Agreement, we'll send an email with a Google Invoice for 50% deposit. Upon receipt of payment, we'll purchase the template, domain name, and hosting and get started. If this is a redesign we will likely start collecting the content from your current site and moving it over to the new design. If it is a new site, we will request you send in new/additional content via email or postal mail for adding to your site.
Within 48 hours, your new site will be published to a test area where you can view it and follow along while it's developed. You may continue to send us emails with your changes. After we have completed your site to your standard, we will request the balance and publish to your domain name, where it will then be live on the Net. We will frequently make your updates and changes as you need them at no additional charge. The monthly maintenance fee covers unlimited changes.
How long have you been in business?
If you have an HTML editor, you can update your site
any time you want. But, you need to know how to operate
such program. Microsoft Frontpage, Microsoft Expression
Web, and Macromedia Dreamweaver are several you can use. Can you help with the marketing of my web site?
What's the difference between a "Blog" and a "Web Site"? A blog is simply a site that permits you to add articles, news, images, and other content through the admin control panel. You can only add content - not change the design or layout of the site (unless you understand PHP programming).
A web site is a fully functional home page with other pages linking throughout. You choose a design template and we develop the template to your standard . . . adding content, images, logo, etc. Unless you have and understand an HTML editor like Microsoft Expression Web, or Dreamweaver, you won't be doing any updates yourself. You will simply send in updates, changes, and other content via email or regular postal mail, and your personal site developer will update your site.
What entails a web site? A live web site consists of a domain name, hosting, and an actual site.
How many pages do I need for my web site? That depends on what you are trying to accomplish. The best way to determine the number of pages you will need is by visiting your competitor's websites and taking note of their links and pages.
Do I own the web site? Absolutely. You are entered as the Registrant on the contact section when registering your domain. Additionally, you can request and receive a copy of your site at any time.
What is a domain name and which one should I choose? A domain name is the name of your site. It should reflect your business name, where possible.
I already own my domain name. Is this ok?
Where is my site hosted? GoDaddy.com
Can it be hosted on a server of my choosing? Sure. But, we highly recommend GoDaddy.com.
What amount of updates can be made to the site? You receive unlimited updates and changes to your site as long as you are a customer of RegisterDomainLive.com.
What is not considered a regular update or change? Changes to the design template itself. Anything else is pretty much free.
How do I make updates and changes to my site? Simply send them to admin@registerdomainlive.com, or the email address of your personal web developer and explain which page(s) and changes you want made.
I need a logo. Can you develop one for me? Absolutely. All plans except "Basic" include a free logo design. Otherwise, we charge $299 for logo design.
